Remember This, The Anointing Will Cost You

I recently had a dream where I awoke and felt the power of the words I spoke in my dream. I said to a group of people, “Remember this, the anointing will cost you.”

As I have heard this many times, it was in that moment I felt a new weightiness and fresh perspective come over me. The anointing offers so much to us. There are powerful benefits that come from the anointing, yet it demands and requires something from us.

It’s costly and there is a real price we must pay for it.

So whats the cost? It is complete self sacrifice…a death to one’s “self.” You. Must. Die. Daily.

It requires our obedience to God‟s word and His ways. Obedience will always be the access through the doors of destiny. Through daily prayer we can get there, as Paul highlighted in 1 Corinthians 15:31.

”I assure you, believers, by the pride which I have in you in [your union with] Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily [I face death and die to self].“

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭31‬ ‭AMP‬‬

What does it really mean to die to self daily? It is a continuous daily yielding to Holy Spirit (His will, His ways, His leading, His impulses, His wisdom, etc.,) which includes the process of personal sanctification. It’s letting the fleshly ways die and the standard of God live and thrive in YOU.

There is a true mark of a real disciple of Christ and its personal transformation. They have been with Jesus. It will be evident in their fruit, their lives, and their character. The anointing carries the nature, the essence and the DNA of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

The anointing it will cost you everything. To think any-less would be misleading. You will experience being talked about, ridiculed, persecuted, crushed, tried, tested, challenged, broken, and yes humbled. The crushing is part of the process. It builds your faith and trust in God. You learn to endure and mature. It teaches you to be steadfast and patient. It is the integral part of the great commission of a true disciple of Christ. You learn to be a real son! Jesus endured it and so will we if we confess to be His follower.

I feel strongly the Lord speaking about the order of our lives and to get in-sync with Him. We are to be led by His spirit and not settle or fall into the traps of worldly distractions, prayerlessness, compromise, complacency and idleness. I am reminded of the scripture the Lord gave me in December for the body of Christ: Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Whatever you must do, You must do it now. Holy Spirit is your helper and He is the sanctifier. You may be one degree off but the Lord is in the business of moving that one degree back in proper alignment.

Let the urgency to not remain the same captivate you and provoke you to change. The anointing comes with a cost but its more grandeur than anything you can ever obtain in this life. Like King David spoke in Psalms, I cannot live without the Spirit of God!

”Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.“

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭51‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Lets say this prayer together over our lives:

Heavenly Father,

We come before You understanding that the anointing we seek carries a significant price. It demands our complete self-sacrifice, a surrender of our desires, and steadfast obedience to Your Word and ways. Help us, Lord, to embody the discipline of daily dying to ourselves, embracing Your will over our own.

Grant us the strength and courage to undergo the necessary transformations that come with Your anointing. Teach us to yield fully to the Holy Spirit, allowing for personal sanctification, where our fleshly ways die and Your divine standards are upheld in us. May we emerge as true disciples of Christ, recognizable by our transformed lives, fruitful actions, and Christ-like character.

Prepare us for the trials that will test our faith—persecution, trials, and humbling experiences. We understand these are part of the process that refines us, builds our trust in You, and teaches us patience and endurance. Let these experiences mold us into steadfast followers, committed to Your great commission.

Align our hearts and lives with Your divine order, avoiding distractions and the pitfalls of a life lived without purposeful prayer and dedication. Remind us that every moment is an opportunity to bear good fruit, and without it, we cannot stand.

We ask for Your Holy Spirit to guide us, correcting our course as necessary. Let an urgency for transformation ignite within us, pushing us towards the greatness of Your anointing. We acknowledge that this journey towards deeper commitment to You is the most valuable pursuit of our lives.

Empower us, Lord, to meet the demands of Your calling with grace and perseverance, for we know the reward is a life intimately entwined with Your Spirit, which is more precious than anything this world can offer. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Now let us decree together:

In Jesus’ name, I decree that every day, I grow stronger in faith and more like Christ, embracing the process of sanctification. I see challenges as opportunities to deepen my trust in God, each one guiding me closer to His divine plan. With the Holy Spirit’s guidance, I am committed to continual transformation, ensuring my life reflects God’s goodness. Today, I declare that anything in me not of God is being cut off and cast into the fire, making way for a renewed, sanctified spirit that bears fruit for His kingdom.
