“Sacrificial Love” - A Poem

Almost 3 weeks ago I was on a phone call during which I shared with Clare that the love I have for her, our 3 daughters Isabella, Sofia and Amelia, and everyone, is sacrificial love. I shared how I have laid my life down.

Clare asked me what do I mean by “sacrificial love” and “laying my life down”, so I shared a few things which came upon my heart.

This morning, Saturday 30th August 2025, I woke up, and I quickly recalled that during my time asleep, God was speaking to me about this type of love, and in my dream He asked me to write a poem on Sacrificial Love.

Shortly after, I got pen and paper, and started to write what I believe is my 1st ever “proper” poem.

After sharing the poem directly with Clare out of honour and respect to her, along with some of my immediate family members, I am now sharing the poem here, for you, and all those who will come to read this poem.

I pray it will speak deeply to you and bring you wisdom and revelation of how much you personally are loved.

Sacrificial Love

What is “sacrificial love”?

Sacrificial love is love beyond words.
It is not temporary, it is eternal.

This love doesn’t give up, and is always hopeful.
It experiences pain, knowing there is divine purpose.

This love stands up for those who don’t yet know it.
It can be completely misunderstood.

This love does not demand its own way.
It recognises that silence can be more powerful than words.

This love is patient, kind and gentle.
It trust that it will be received, in God’s perfect time.

This love surrenders itself to save others.
It is humble, never exalting itself above others.

This love doesn’t get offended or hurt by words.
It pours out blessings and pure, undefiled love.

Sacrificial love is birthed from total surrender.
It does its greatest work with no-one around.

This love speaks life. This love builds up.
It does not doubt, it does not confuse.

This love is willing to be laid bare for all to see.
It does not hide in the darkness.

This loves endures through every circumstance.
It refuses to be intimidated by temporary circumstances.

This love is open for all to receive.
It isn’t hiding from those who reject it.

This love never loses faith.
It overcomes all that come against it.

This love is unfailing.

Sacrificial love lasts forever.
Sacrificial love turns ashes into beauty.

Are you willing to open your heart to Him?
